CORRECTION AND RETRACTION POLICY
Jurnal Masharif Al-Syariah: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Perbankan Syariah
Jurnal Masharif Al-Syariah: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Perbankan Syariah is committed to preserving the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the scholarly record. When errors or ethical misconduct are identified in published articles, the journal takes immediate, transparent, and appropriate corrective action following the guidelines and flowcharts established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Article Corrections
Minor errors that do not compromise the overall scientific integrity or major conclusions of a published article may be corrected through formal notices:
-
Erratum (Publisher Error): Issued to correct significant technical or production errors introduced during copyediting, formatting, or typesetting by the journal staff that affect the scientific accuracy or readability of the work.
-
Corrigendum (Author Error): Issued to correct significant errors inadvertently introduced by the authors (e.g., mislabeled figure/table columns, mathematical formula errors, or missing metadata/grant acknowledgments) that do not invalidate the study's primary findings.
-
Correction Procedure: A formal correction notice titled "Correction: [Article Title]" will be published as a separate document in the next available issue, assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and bidirectionally cross-linked to the original published article page.
2. Article Retraction
In accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines, an article will be retracted if there is clear evidence of severe scientific errors or ethical violations that render the study unreliable:
Grounds for Retraction:
-
Clear evidence that the research findings are unreliable due to major error, calculation mistake, data fabrication, or data falsification.
-
Substantial plagiarism or violation of third-party intellectual property rights.
-
Redundant or duplicate publication without proper cross-referencing or editor approval.
-
Unethical research conduct or failure to declare major conflicts of interest that severely compromise the validity of the work.
Retraction Procedure:
-
A formal Notice of Retraction titled "Retraction: [Article Title]" is published in the journal and indexed in scholarly databases.
-
The original PDF of the article remains online to maintain the historical scholarly record, but a prominent "RETRACTED" watermark is applied across every page.
-
The online HTML/metadata page of the article is updated to explicitly detail the reasons for retraction and identify who initiated the action (e.g., the authors or the Editor-in-Chief).
3. Expressions of Concern & Article Removal
-
Expression of Concern: Published by the Editor-in-Chief when serious, unresolved concerns or allegations regarding research integrity or peer-review validity arise, and a formal investigation by the authors' host institution or journal panel is ongoing but inconclusive.
-
Article Removal: Full removal of an article from the online platform is extremely rare and reserved exclusively for cases involving severe court orders, illegal/defamatory material, or critical safety hazards.
