The Editorial Board of Jurnal Masharif Al-Syariah: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Perbankan Syariah is committed to upholding high ethical standards in scholarly publishing. This authorship criteria policy is formulated in accordance with the standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) to ensure accountability, transparency, and fairness in academic attribution.
- Qualifying as an Author
Every individual listed as an author in a manuscript submitted to Jurnal Masharif Al-Syariah MUST meet all four of the following criteria:

- Final Approval: Reviewed and gave final approval of the version to be published.
- Accountability: Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
- Non-Author Contributions (Acknowledgments)
Individuals who provide support but do not meet all four criteria above are not entitled to be listed as authors. Such contributions should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.
Examples of non-author contributions include:
- Provision of research funding or grants.
- Technical support, laboratory assistance, or field data collection without intellectual analysis.
- Grammar checking, proofreading, or language translation.
- General supervision or administrative leadership of the unit or institution where the research was conducted.
- Role of the Corresponding Author
The Corresponding Author is the individual designated by all co-authors to take primary responsibility for communication with the editorial board during manuscript submission, peer review, editing, and publication.
Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author include:
- Ensuring all listed authors meet the authorship criteria.
- Ensuring all authors have approved the author order and the final draft of the manuscript prior to submission.
- Managing the completion of licensing forms, conflict of interest declarations, and publication fees (if applicable).
- Responding to editorial inquiries regarding data, ethics, or post-publication clarifications.
- Author Misconduct
Jurnal Masharif Al-Syariah strictly prohibits the following unethical authorship practices:
- Ghost Authorship: Omitting or failing to list individuals who made substantial contributions to the manuscript.
- Guest/Honorary Authorship: Listing senior figures, department heads, or prominent academics who did not make an intellectual contribution, solely to increase the manuscript's chances of acceptance.
- Gift Authorship: Listing colleagues or other parties as a "gift" or favor without actual contribution to the research.
- Changes in Authorship
Any change to the author list (addition, deletion, or reordering of names) after manuscript submission must follow a formal procedure:
- The Corresponding Author must provide a clear written explanation to the Editor-in-Chief.
- Submit an Authorship Change Consent Form signed by all authors (including any added or removed authors).
- Changes in authorship will only be considered before the manuscript is officially accepted. Post-publication changes are not permitted unless resolving a technical editorial error (Erratum).
- Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI Tools)
In line with COPE guidelines:
- Artificial intelligence tools (Generative AI) such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar software CANNOT be listed as an author or co-author.
- AI tools lack legal capacity to take responsibility for manuscript content, conflict of interest statements, or copyright agreements.
- The use of AI to assist in data processing or writing must be transparently disclosed in the Methodology or Acknowledgments section.
