Authorship Policy

Justitia Jurnal Hukum is committed to ethical standards in scientific publication and transparency in authorship. This policy outlines the criteria for authorship, the responsibilities of the corresponding author, and the procedures for managing changes in authorship, in accordance with the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Authorship Criteria

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND

  2. Drafted the work or revised it critically for important intellectual content; AND

  3. Gave final approval of the version to be published; AND

  4. Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Contributors who meet fewer than all four of the above criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors, but they should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section (e.g., individuals who provided purely technical help, writing assistance, general support, or funding).

2. The Role of the Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is the primary contact for the journal’s editorial office during the submission, peer review, and publication processes. The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all listed co-authors meet the authorship criteria.

  • Ensuring that no deserving authors have been omitted from the author list.

  • Obtaining final approval from all co-authors for the submitted version, any revised versions, and the final proof before publication.

  • Managing all communication regarding the manuscript and ensuring transparency regarding any potential conflicts of interest.

3. Changes in Authorship

Any changes to the author list after the initial submission such as adding, deleting, or rearranging author names must be made before the manuscript is accepted for publication.

  • To request a change, the corresponding author must send a formal letter to the Editor-in-Chief explaining the reason for the change.

  • The request must be accompanied by written confirmation (e.g., via email or a signed letter) from all authors, including the author being added or removed, stating their agreement to the proposed change.

  • The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject any changes to authorship if the provided reasons or documentation are insufficient. Changes to authorship after publication are strictly prohibited unless a formal correction or retraction is warranted.

4. AI and Authorship

As outlined in our Generative AI Policy, Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or similar technologies cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authorship implies human responsibilities, ethical obligations, and legal accountability that AI technologies cannot fulfill.
