Peer Review Process for the Journal of Sociolegal and Islamic Law

  1. Manuscript Submission: All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Sociolegal and Islamic Law must adhere to the journal's submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these initial requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before further processing.
  2. Initial Screening by Editors: Once submitted, manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial team to ensure their relevance and appropriateness to the journal’s focus and scope. Manuscripts that do not align with the journal's topics or do not meet basic quality standards may be rejected at this stage.
  3. Peer Review Process: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be forwarded to the peer review process. The journal employs a double-blind peer review system, meaning the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential to ensure impartiality.
    1. Reviewer Selection: The editors will select two or more reviewers with expertise in the relevant field of the manuscript's topic.
    2. Reviewer Evaluation: Reviewers will assess the manuscript based on originality, methodology, analysis, relevance to the journal’s focus, and contribution to the field. Reviewers will also provide recommendations on whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
  4. Editorial Decision: After receiving feedback from the reviewers, the editor will make a final decision on the manuscript, which may be:
    1. Accepted: The manuscript is accepted without any required revisions.
    2. Accepted with Minor Revisions: The author is requested to make minor revisions before the manuscript is accepted.
    3. Accepted with Major Revisions: The author is requested to make significant revisions. After revision, the manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation.
    4. Rejected: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards and cannot be accepted for publication.
  5. Revisions by Authors: If revisions are required, authors will be given time to revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' comments and suggestions. The revised manuscript will be reviewed by the editor and, if necessary, returned to the original reviewers for further assessment.
  6. Final Decision: After all revisions are completed, the editor will make a final decision on the manuscript. Authors will be informed of this decision, and if the manuscript is accepted, the publication process will begin.
