MUST: Journal of Mathematics Education, Science and Technology is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. Corrections and retractions are issued when necessary to address errors or concerns affecting the reliability, validity, or ethical integrity of published articles. All cases are evaluated objectively in accordance with publication ethics principles and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Correction Policy
A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article but does not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions. Corrections may include errors in mathematical equations, tables, figures, data presentation, author information, affiliations, citations, or other relevant content.
Authors, editors, or readers may report errors to the editorial team. The editor will assess the reported issue and determine whether a correction is necessary. Approved corrections will be published with a clear reference to the original article.
2. Retraction Policy
A published article may be retracted when there is clear evidence that its findings or conclusions are unreliable or that serious publication ethics violations have occurred. Grounds for retraction may include:
-
Data fabrication or falsification.
-
Plagiarism or substantial duplicate publication.
-
Major errors that undermine the validity of the research findings.
-
Unethical research practices or unauthorized use of data.
-
Serious authorship or publication misconduct that compromises the integrity of the article.
-
Other significant violations that undermine confidence in the published research.
The editor will assess the available evidence and may consult the authors, independent experts, or relevant institutions before making a decision.
3. Retraction Procedure
When retraction is considered necessary, MUST will publish a retraction notice identifying the affected article and explaining the reasons for the decision. The notice will be linked to the original publication and made accessible to readers.
The original article will generally remain available in the journal archive but will be clearly marked as retracted to preserve the transparency and integrity of the scholarly record.
4. Expression of Concern
If serious concerns arise but the available evidence is inconclusive, MUST may publish an expression of concern while further investigation is conducted. The journal will determine any subsequent action based on the investigation's findings.
5. Responsibilities of Authors and the Editorial Team
Authors must promptly notify the editor when they discover significant errors in their published work and cooperate with the correction or retraction process.
The editorial team is responsible for evaluating reported concerns fairly, maintaining confidentiality where appropriate, and taking proportionate action to protect the integrity of published research.
MUST applies this policy consistently to ensure the reliability, credibility, and responsible dissemination of research in mathematics education, science, technology, and related fields.
