Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

MUST: Journal of Mathematics Education, Science and Technology is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, originality, and ethical standards in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly publishing. The journal follows the ethical principles recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding responsible AI use.

1. AI Use by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted tools, such as ChatGPT and other generative AI technologies, to support language editing, manuscript preparation, and research-related activities. However, authors must ensure the accuracy, originality, and reliability of all submitted content.

Authors must disclose any substantive use of AI tools, including the name of the tool and its purpose, in the appropriate section of the manuscript.

2. AI and Authorship

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scientific work. All authors remain fully accountable for their manuscripts.

3. AI-Generated Content

The use of AI to fabricate or falsify research data, results, citations, references, or scientific findings is strictly prohibited. AI-generated text, images, mathematical content, or analyses must be carefully verified by the authors and comply with applicable publication ethics and copyright requirements.

4. AI Use in Peer Review

Editors and reviewers must maintain manuscript confidentiality and must not upload unpublished manuscripts or confidential review materials to external AI platforms without appropriate authorization and safeguards.

AI tools must not replace independent scientific judgment or human editorial decision-making.

5. Ethical Compliance

Failure to disclose significant AI use or any misuse of AI technologies may result in manuscript rejection or appropriate post-publication action.

MUST: Journal of Mathematics Education, Science and Technology encourages the responsible and transparent use of AI technologies while ensuring that human researchers remain accountable for the quality, validity, and integrity of published scientific research.
