The network utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program, which provides decentralized and distributed digital preservation to maintain the integrity, authenticity, and long-term availability of scholarly publications.

PKP PN ensures that journal content can be preserved for future access, particularly for journals that are not covered by other digital preservation services, such as CLOCKSS or Portico. This preservation system supports the sustainability of scholarly communication and safeguards published research against permanent loss.
