Author Guidelines

QANUN MEDIKA is a six-monthly publication journal by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya. To support the subsequent publication so that this journal can still be published on an ongoing basis, the editors accept scientific articles in the form of research article, case reports, and literature review.


HOW TO DELIVER A SCRIPT TO US?

Scripts can be a result of the research, the article conceptual/ the ideas of non-research, case reports, and studies in the medical field that have not been published by other publishers.

Manuscripts submitted must be accompanied by an affidavit signed by the authors stating that the manuscript has NOT previously published in the journal anywhere, and is not under consideration by another publication and that all authors have reviewed the manuscript and agreed that the text will be published in this journal.

A script that goes to the board of editors will be explored in general, then sent to the Editor of experts/ Partners Bestari. On the basis of the recommendation, then the editor will communicate the decision whether accepted/rejected/revised.

The manuscript was made in the style of academic language and effective, consisting of:

The title is written at the top of the page, followed by:
The main author's full name and all authors without an academic degree
Name of the Department and institutions of the authors

Abstract should be concise and precise with information. It contains no more than 350 words, include a background of the problem, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

Keywords are limited to 3-5 words that correspond with the title and content. The keywords should be obtained from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®) thesaurus produced by National Library of Medicine.

INTRODUCTION (using Times New Roman 12, capital letter, Bold)

The content of introduction usually is the background of research, position of the research towards the other similar research. It can be a brief literature review.

It is written using Times New Roman 12 with 1.15 space and each new paragraph with spacing 6 pt.

Reference cited according to APA style. In writing the citations and references, authors are recommended to use Mendeley® reference management software­­. .

 

METHODS (using Times New Roman 12, capital letter, Bold)

The content of methods consists of research design, data collection, data source such as study participants, materials and equipment, and data analysis. All statistical methods used should be described in detail in the methods section of the manuscript. All submitted papers containing animal experiments and/or involving human subjects should have obtained approval from an independent ethics committee. Author should also write down the ethical clearance number in methods.

RESULTS (using Times New Roman 12, capital letter, Bold)

The content of results consists of the data and information that have been collected. The finding systematically must be supported by charts, tables, figures or informative illustrations.

It is written using Times New Roman 12 with 1.15 space and each new paragraph with spacing 6 pt.  

All figures, tables, or informative illustrations are prepared as image file.

DISCUSSION (using Times New Roman 12, capital letter, Bold)

The content consists of the discussion about the finding, novelty and limitations of the study (if any). It is written using Times New Roman 12 with 1.15 space and each new paragraph with spacing 6 pt.

 

CONCLUSION (using Times New Roman 12, capital letter, Bold)

The content of conclusion should clearly state the result of correlated objective (and may also possible with future direction). Avoid using point or numbering.

It is written using Times New Roman 12 with 1.15 space and each new paragraph with spacing 6 pt.

 

REFERENCES (using Times New Roman 12, capital letter, Bold)

The reference is written according to Harvard. The minimal number of reference is 20, preferable from journal. The reference from textbook maximum 20%. The number of authors listed is not more than three, if more after the first name followed by "et al.". It is written using Times New Roman 12 with 1.15 space, justified, with spacing 6 pt after each reference. In writing the citations and references, authors are recommended to use Mendeley® reference management software, and choose: American Psychological Association 6th Edition (APA).

Editors receive text articles, not later than the end of November for the January issue and the end of May for publication in July. Article submission is only via journal website. We will not proceed article submission by email.  The article is typed, on A4 paper of no more than 15 pages with the template given above.

Tables, illustrations, charts, and photographs should be kept to a format of its own after the show in the script and should be included in the digital form delivered via email, either separately in different files or on different pages of text in the file the same one. information tables, illustrations, charts, and photographs in the text should be written clearly with a 1.15 format spaced font Times New Roman 11.

Before the reference, if any assistance from a professional party other than the author, recognition can be stated briefly to the appropriate professionals who have contributed to the completion of the manuscript.

 

Every submission will be plagiarism checked via TURNITIN. If the similiarity index above 25%, the manuscript will be returned.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The paper has not been published before in any media, or are under consideration other journals. Please signed the statement letter which can be downloaded HERE and upload it in ADDITIONAL FILES section
  2. Script files in OpenOffice document file format, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect
  3. When available, URLs for the references have been provided, please put a bibliography for reference.
  4. Text 1.15 space; font 12; neither underlined (except the URL address); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the right points, not at the end.
  5. Text in accordance with the requirements of the library and style depicted in outline in the Author Guidelines, which will be found in the About Us page.
  6. If the reception for a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions contained in Ensuring Reviewers Anonymous has followed.
