Panduan Penulis

Papers submitted for publication must conform to the following guidelines:

  • The article has not yet been published elsewhere, original, research-based, unpublished and not under review for possible publication in other journals.
  • The article contains 1) title, 2) author's name (without title), 3) author's agency, 4) abstract in English and Indonesian of around 150-250 words, 5) keywords, 6) introduction, 7) method, 8) findings and discussion, 9) conclusion, and 9) bibliography.
  • Abstract is written in one paragraph that includes four things: (1) Research purposes, (2) Method, (3); Findings/results, and (4) Conclusion. The author can also write down things that are considered very important in this abstract, while paying attention to the maximum word limit 250 words
  • Keywords contain three to five words/phrases separated by semicolon and arranged by alphabetic.
  • Introduction consisting of the background of study, problem, methods, previous research and theoretical framework.
  • All submitted articles are subject to review of the editors, editorial board, and blind reviewers.
  • Articles will be published in English and Indonesia.
  • Citations and bibliographical style must be set automatically using Reference Manager (e.g. Mendeley) 
  • Submissions that violate our guidelines concerned with formatting or length will be rejected without review.
  • Papers must be written based on the template and author guidelines.
  • This journal accepts only electronic submissions.
  • Articles should be submitted in soft files using document format (.doc or .docx) to the Online Submission page.

Submitting document should be managed by Online Submission System in the website of the journal,

  • First, the author should register as an author or reviewer (checking role as author or reviewer) in the “Register” or journal,
  • After registration completed, log in as an author, click in “New Submission”. The article submits stage consist five stages, such as: (1) Start, (2) Upload Submission, (3) Enter Metadata, (4) Upload Supplementary Files, (5) Confirmation.
  • In the “Start” column, chose Journal Section, check all the checklists.
  • In the “Upload Submission” column, upload the manuscript files at MSWord format in this column.
  • In the “Enter Metadata” column, fill out all the author data and affiliation. Following the Journal Title, Abstract, and Indexing Keywords.
  • In the “Confirmation” column, if all the data that you enter were right, then click “Finish Submission”.

Our editorial process is as follows:

  1. Initial screening. All submissions are initially screened by the Editor-in-Chief for their conformity to Maqasid journal scope and basic submission requirements and checked for plagiarism. Manuscripts that fail to abide by our ethical standards are immediately rejected, as are manuscripts that do not fit within the journal’s scope.
  2. Reviewer assignment. Manuscripts that pass initial screening are then handed over to a section editor, who will select at least two relevant reviewers and initiate the peer review process.
  3. Peer review. During this stage, a reviewer will assess the content of the manuscript and provide their recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief.
  4. First decision. Once both (or more) reviewers have submitted their recommendations, the manuscript is either rejected, asked for revisions (minor or major), or accepted as is. If it is accepted, the manuscript is returned to the submitting author for proofreading. The final decision to accept the manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the recommendation of the section editor and following approval by the editorial board.
  5. Revision. A manuscript that requires revisions is returned to the submitting author, who will have up to four weeks to revise the manuscript. Once the revision is submitted, it is once again assessed by the section editor to determine whether the changes are adequate and appropriate, as well as whether the author sufficiently responded to the reviewers’ comments and suggestions. If the revisions are deemed to be inadequate, this step is repeated (the manuscript is returned to the submitting author once more for further revision).
  6. Final decision. Finally, the revised manuscript is either accepted or rejected, depending on whether the section editor has found the manuscript to have been improved to a level worthy of publication. If the author are unable to make the required changes or have done so to a degree below Maqasid standards, the manuscript is rejected.
  7. Publication. Congratulations! The published article will appear in the latest issue of Maqasid journal Islamic Law.

The Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that if accepted for publication, copyright of the article shall be assigned to Maqasid Journal and Department Islamic Family Law (Ahwal al Syakhshiyah) Faculty Of Islamic Religiuos Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya as publisher of the journal.

Copyright encompasses exclusive rights to reproduce and deliver the article in all form and media, including reprints, photographs, microfilms and any other similar reproductions, as well as translations. The reproduction of any part of this journal, its storage in databases and its transmission by any form or media, such as electronic, electrostatic and mechanical copies, photocopies, recordings, magnetic media, etc., will be allowed only with a written permission from Maqasid Journal and Department Islamic Family Law (Ahwal al Syakhshiyah) Faculty Of Islamic Religiuos Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya.

Department Islamic Family Law (Ahwal al Syakhshiyah) Faculty Of Islamic Religiuos Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, the Editors and the Advisory Editorial Board make every effort to ensure that no wrong or misleading data, opinions or statements be published in the journal. In any way, the contents of the articles and advertisements published in the Maqasid are sole and exclusive responsibility of their respective authors and advertisers.

Rights of Authors
The Maqasid Journal and Department Islamic Family Law (Ahwal al Syakhshiyah) Faculty Of Islamic Religiuos Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya recognize the retention of the following:

  • Patent and trademark rights and rights to any process or procedure described in the article.
  • The right to photocopy or make single electronic copies of the article for their own personal use, including for their own classroom use, or for the personal use of colleagues, provided the copies are not offered for sale and are not distributed in a systematic way outside of their employing institution (e.g. via an e-mail list or public file server). Posting of an article on a secure network (not accessible to the public) within the authors institution is permitted.
  • The right, subsequent to publication, to use the article or any part thereof free of charge in a printed compilation of works of their own, such as collected writings or lecture notes.
