Coastal ecosystems are dynamic transitional zones that play an essential role in maintaining ecological stability and coastal protection but are highly vulnerable to environmental pressure and anthropogenic activities. However, quantitative studies on tree-level vegetation structure in Indonesian coastal areas remain limited, creating a gap in ecological baseline information required for effective coastal management. This study aims to analyze the structure of coastal tree vegetation and to determine the ecological role of dominant species based on density, frequency, and dominance parameters in the coastal area of Teluk Ijo, Banyuwangi, Indonesia. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using vegetation analysis at the tree growth level. Data were collected through systematic plot sampling, and data analysis included calculations of density, relative density, frequency, relative frequency, dominance, relative dominance, and the Important Value Index (IVI/INP). The results indicate that the coastal tree vegetation community is composed of several coastal-adapted species with varying structural contributions, with Terminalia catappa exhibiting the highest INP, indicating a dominant ecological role. In conclusion, the coastal tree vegetation of Teluk Ijo demonstrates a clear dominance pattern, with dominant species playing a key role in maintaining ecosystem stability and coastal protection.
