Abstrak

Permasalahan kesehatan lingkungan terutama terkait pengelolaan sampah dan perilaku Buang Air Besar Sembarangan (BABS) di wilayah pesisir khususnya di Kabupaten Tanggamus masih tinggi. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan terutama diare pada anak-anak. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendirikan bank sampah sebagai sarana promosi edukasi dan solusi ekonomi, sehingga meningkatkan akses sanitasi dan mengurangi perilaku BABS di Desa Pasar Madang. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Aksi Partisipatif (PAR) dengan mendirikan dan meresmikan Bank Sampah. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga mencakup pemberian informasi tentang sanitasi dan dampak BABS, serta pemanfaatan sarana edukasi seperti botol air minum, celengan, kaos, kartu kebiasaan, dan pemutaran film. Hasil kegiatan, yang diikuti oleh 90% masyarakat undangan, menunjukkan minat yang tinggi untuk menabung sampah sebagai sarana pendanaan pembangunan toilet. Pendekatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan sampah melalui ekonomi sirkular dapat meningkatkan kesadaran dan akses sanitasi bagi masyarakat dalam jangka panjang. Kegiatan ini memerlukan evaluasi jangka panjang untuk melihat dampaknya terhadap pembangunan toilet. Namun, pendekatan bank sampah terpadu memiliki potensi untuk direplikasi di daerah lain untuk mendukung tujuan sanitasi nasional.
