AI Policy
TELL: Teaching of English Language and Literature Journal recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools (such as text generators, grammar checkers, or language enhancement tools) are increasingly used in scholarly writing. The journal provides the following policy to ensure transparency, academic integrity, and responsible use of AI technologies.
Use of AI by Authors
- AI tools may be used by authors for limited purposes such as language editing, grammar checking, or improving clarity and readability.
- AI tools must not be used to generate original research content, research data, analyses, interpretations, or conclusions.
- AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot take responsibility for the work.
- Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content in their manuscripts, including any parts assisted by AI tools.
- If AI tools are used beyond basic language assistance, authors should clearly disclose their use in the manuscript (e.g., in the acknowledgements or a dedicated statement).
Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers
- Editors and reviewers may use AI tools only to assist with administrative tasks, language checking, or plagiarism detection.
- Confidential manuscript content must not be uploaded to public or third-party AI tools that store or reuse data.
- Editorial decisions and peer-review judgments must always be made by human editors and reviewers.
Ethical Considerations
- The use of AI must comply with the journal’s ethical standards, including originality, avoidance of plagiarism, and proper citation.
- Any misuse of AI tools that compromises academic integrity may result in rejection of the manuscript or retraction of a published article.
This policy will be reviewed and updated as AI technologies and scholarly publishing standards evolve.
