Effectiveness of Media Video for Increasing Knowledge and Preventive Measures Against Hepatitis Due to Viruses Among Residents of Kepetingan Hamlet, Buduran District, Sidoarjo

Objective: Hepatitis B is an infectious disease that attacks the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). HBV is highly infectious and is the leading cause of chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Video media in providing appropriate and interesting health education in conveying information will affect the results of health education. A phenomenon found at Stikes Katolik St. Vincentius a Paulo Surabaya is that some students have insufficient knowledge about HIV and AIDS. The purpose of this study is to identify the effectiveness of video media in increasing knowledge and preventive actions against hepatitis caused by viruses among residents of Kepetingan Village, Buduran District, Sidoarjo.
Methods: This study uses a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test design. The independent variable of this study is the educational method using video media, and the dependent variables are knowledge and actions. The sampling technique used in this study is simple random sampling with a sample size of 29 respondents who meet the inclusion criteria. The instrument used is a questionnaire.
Results: The results respondents' knowledge about the prevention of hepatitis before receiving education shows that 55% of respondents have good knowledge and 45% of respondents have sufficient knowledge. Respondents' actions regarding the prevention of viral hepatitis before education: 79% of respondents had good preventive actions and 21% of respondents had poor preventive actions. After education, 100% of respondents had good preventive actions. The results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test showed a p-value (0.000) < α (0.05).
Conclusion: In conclusion that video media had an effect on increasing respondents' knowledge and preventive actions regarding viral hepatitis. Video media, in providing appropriate and interesting health education in conveying information, will affect the results of health education.
