Abstract
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices from an Islamic perspective are not merely a social obligation, but rather a manifestation of worship and social interaction grounded in humanity’s role as vicegerents. This study aims to analyse the implementation of CSR rooted in Islamic business ethics, such as amanah, ’adl (justice), and ihsan and to evaluate its impact on the public good. Using a descriptive qualitative method through a literature review, the results indicate that CSR based on Islamic ethics is intrinsically aligned with the Maqasid al-Shari’ah. Authentic implementation can transform programmes from mere charitable aid into strategic economic empowerment. The novelty and main contribution of this study lie in the formulation of a conceptual framework that uses the Maqasid al-Shari’ah as an anti-greenwashing evaluation parameter, an approach that remains rarely explored in contemporary CSR literature. In conclusion, the integration of Islamic values provides a strong moral foundation for corporations to achieve a balance between profitability and social welfare (falah).
