Abstract

This study attempts to examine the role of production management and the available theories in terms of production, location selection in factories or various company settings, and control of the entire production process. This study is novelty because it attempts to combine the discussion of production management functions with an analysis of the relationship between strategic decisions with factory location selection and production control results, which previously many studies considered separately. The method used is a literature study by collecting, analysing, and synthesizing highly relevant scientific sources. The results of the study indicate that the production management function not only plays a role in managing the process of transformation inputs into outputs, but also this transformation process becomes the basis for returning strategic decisions that affect the company’s operational performance. The selection of the right location can support the smoothness of a production process, while effective production control contributes to the achievement of quality, quantity, time and cost targets. Through the literature synthesis conducted, this research can offer a more comprehensive framework for understanding the relationship between production management functions in increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of the company.
