The development of Islamic business in Indonesia has experienced changes influenced by social, political, and economic conditions in each phase of history. During the era of Islamic kingdoms, trade activities grew rapidly according to sharia principles such as honesty, justice, trustworthiness, and the prohibition of usury. During the colonial period, trade was dominated by the colonizers, which led to a decline in Islamic business due to limited access to capital, education, and markets. After independence, Islamic business began to rise through the development of SMEs, Islamic financial institutions, and increased public awareness of the Islamic economy. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach. The results show that the development of Islamic business occurred in four phases: the expansion phase, the decline phase, the revival phase, and the contemporary development phase, marked by the growth of Islamic banking, Islamic financial technology, and the halal industry.
