Sharia Finance Education for Elementary School Children through Educational Media

Islamic finance is an important part of the global financial system, especially in Muslim- majority countries. However, sharia financial literacy among the community, including children, is still low. This service program aims to increase sharia financial literacy among the children of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Malaysia, who have limited access to formal education. Through interactive educational methods, such as the sharia snakes and ladders game and si-akad cards, children are introduced to the basic concepts of Islamic finance, including contract, usury and profit sharing. The evaluation results show a significant increase in children's understanding of sharia finance, as well as changes in their attitudes towards managing money in accordance with Islamic principles. This program is expected to not only increase sharia financial literacy from an early age, but also form a generation that is more financially aware and financially responsible. Apart from that, this program also has a long-term impact on the PMI community, especially in terms of better managing family finances in accordance with sharia principles.
This program also makes an important contribution in overcoming the problem of low sharia financial literacy in Indonesia and in PMI communities abroad. By utilizing an interactive and fun approach, this program opens up opportunities for further development of similar initiatives that can be implemented in other communities. Effective sharia financial literacy education can be a powerful tool to create a younger generation who is wiser in managing finances, which in turn will increase sharia financial inclusion in Indonesia and other countries with large Muslim populations.
