Pelatihan Ketrampilan Melakukan Gerakan Eksentrik Pada Pasien Diabetes Dengan Osteoarthritis Di RS Haji Surabaya

Poor quality of life in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients is often associated with complaints of pain and various
musculoskeletal disorders. DM becomes an independent risk factor for the development of knee Osteoarthritis.
The implementation of community service aims to provide training and new knowledge related to exercise
therapy taught by physiotherapy for patients with knee osteoarthritis accompanied by diabetes mellitus as an
effort to improve quality of life. The implementation of community service has three stages, namely pre
activities, activities and post activities. Pre-activities consist of an implementation strategy meeting and
preparation of infrastructure. The implementation of activities includes pretest, education, provision of posters,
demonstration of exercise therapy, and post test. Post-activity implementation conducts evaluation and makes
activity reports. Evaluation is designed by comparing the condition of knowledge after the implementation of
the service. The results showed that before the provision of training education, the majority had poor
knowledge as many as 9 people (60%) out of 15 participants. After the provision of counseling, good
knowledge was obtained overall 100% of the 15 participants. The results of the mann whitney test obtained
a p value of 0.000 means that there is an effect of education in increasing the knowledge of community service
participants. It is hoped that after this community service, participants can practice independently and improve
their health and quality of life.
