Abstract

Abstract

A shell is a structure with the force distribution in the entire surface of the shell. The free-form shells are the type of shells that are not fixed with  particular curve shapes, such as a single curve or a double curve. Free-form shells are more flexible to follow the architect’s imagination aided by using digital-computer aided design. The free-form shells are widely used in organic architecture which is an arch that wants closeness to nature, such as glass cover material. This article is a review of   precedent studies of the design and construction aspects of the free-form shell with non-concrete material that supports the realization of organic architecture. The research method uses secondary data reference studies from various literature.

Abstrak

Cangkang adalah struktur dengan penyebaran gayanya yang merata pada seluruh permukaan cangkangnya.  Cangkang bentukan bebas merupakan salah satu jenis cangkang yang tidak terpaku dengan bentuk kurva tertentu, seperti kurva tunggal dan kurva ganda. Bentukan cangkang bentukan bebas lebih fleksibel mengikuti imajinasi arsitek dibantu dengan menggunakan digital-computer aided design. Cangkang bentukan bebas banyak dipakai pada arsitektur oganik yang merupakan arsitektur yang mempunyai karakter bentukan- bentukan alami yang ada pada alam. Dalam perkembangannya beberapa alternatif penggunaan material struktur dan penutupnya berkembang dewasa ini, sehingga menunjang arsitektur organik yang menginginkan adanya kedekatan dengan alam, seperti material penutup berupa kaca.Artikel ini merupakan tinjauan studi preseden segi desain dan konstruksi dari cangkang bentukan bebas dengan materialnon-beton yang menunjang perwujudan arsitektur organik. Metode penelitian menggunakan studi referensi data-data sekunder dari berbagai literatur.
