Abstrak

Objective: Sexual health in early childhood is the most important part to support the optimal growth and development of children. At the age of 5-6 years, children begin to recognize their body parts, understand the concept of privacy, and can protect themselves from
the risk of violence. The risks to sexual health include children experiencing depression, anxiety, and suspicion toward others. Other
impacts include sleep disturbances, decreased appetite, and behavioral changes such as irritability and withdrawal from social
environments. This study aims to understand the knowledge of 5-6 year-old children about sexual health at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 06 Mulyorejo Surabaya.
Methods: This study uses descriptive quantitative design. The research population consisted of 42 children aged 5-6 years, and a
sample of 38 was selected using stratified random sampling. Data collection was conducted through interviews using a picture-based
questionnaire consisting of 8 questions. Data analysis used univariate methods, including frequency distributions and
percentages.
Results: The results of this study show that 16 (42.1%) have a sufficient level of knowledge, 12 (31.6%) have a poor level, and 10
(26.3%) have a good level. By age, the good knowledge category is most common among 6-year-old children. By gender, girls have a
higher level of knowledge than boys.
Conclusion: Children aged 5-6 years at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 06 Mulyorejo Surabaya have sufficient knowledge of sexual health.
Therefore, there is a need to enhance sexual health education appropriate to the child's developmental stage through collaboration
between schools, parents, and healthcare professionals.
