The Level Of Stigmatizing Attitudes Toward HIV/AIDS Patients In Community, Jombang
Abstrak
Introduction: In Indonesia, HIV/AIDS is one of leading killer desease, HIV/AIDS related stigma is mostly because of moral beliefs, ratherthan knowledge that lead common people or community to believe that having HIV/AIDS desease was results of moral fault (such as homosexuality or sex workers) that deverses to be sparated and discriminate. The Indonesian goverment has indeed created HIV/AIDS prevention policies like attempt to eliminate stigma and discrimination in many sectors, including in community level. Objective: to decribes the level of stigma and discrimination towards HIV/AIDS patients in their community in Jombang. Method: The reseach method of this reseach was descriptive method, 54 samples was used in this study. Results: The results of this study was found that most of the samples were female (88.9%), morethan half of the level of eduacation was primary school (57.4%), and more than half of the participants have got information from television (63.0%). For the level of stigmatizing attitude was high (53.7%). The results of this study suggest that the proper intervention to eliminate stigma and discrimination in community level is needed. Conclusion: One of the factors of high stigma in community might be because of the level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS transmission, therefore implemented of the goverment policy in community level also needed.
