CASE STUDY: TEACHER EFFORTS IN HANDLING CHILDREN WITH SOCIO-EMOTIONAL BARRIERS IN PRE-SCHOOL CLASS

This study aims to describe the teacher’s efforts in addressing children with social-emotional challenges in an Early Childhood Education (PAUD) classroom. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used. The research subjects were a classroom teacher and a child experiencing social-emotional difficulties at a PAUD institution in Medan City. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the teacher employed individualized approaches, positive reinforcement, intensive communication with parents, and collaboration with fellow teachers to help the child adapt and manage their emotions. These efforts proved effective in gradually improving the child’s social interaction and emotional regulation skills. This study recommends further training for PAUD teachers in managing children with special social-emotional needs.
