Abstrak
Introduction: The Effects of Cupping Therapy on Blood Lipid Profiles: A Systematic Review andMeta Analysis. Blood lipid profiles have recently become a routine test for cardiovascular risk. One of the complementary and alternative therapy for hyperlipidemia is cupping therapy, it showed positive effects on total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and triglyserides (TG). Objective : The purpose of this study was to discover the effect of cupping therapy on blood lipid profiles. Methods: Jadad scale was used to assess the methodological quality of trials included in the systematic review. A meta analysis of selected studies was performed using RevMan-5. Five studies were included in systematic review. Two studies were included in meta analysis. Results :The meta analysis showed cupping therapy has significantly effect on TC. Cupping therapy showed significantly effects on LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and TG. Conclusion: Cupping is one of complementary and alternative medicine which can be applied in healthy people, smoker, people with hyperlipidemia and diabetes melitus type II.
