PLENARY SESSION: THE PRACTICE OF INDONESIAN NURSES ON EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE (EBP) TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF CARE

Abstrak

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the experience of Indonesian nurses on implementation of EBP in nursing practice based on clinical pathway (CP).

Methods: this study employed a descriptive study and literature review. Forty samples were recruited by cluster sample based on area of wards in the department of medical surgical nursing. Data were gathered by an observation and discussion in education hospital in Surabaya during 2015 focused on Diabetes Mellitus diagnosis patient.

Result: The implementation of EBP showed the increase and organizing of nurse performance in carrying out nursing care. The guidelines of EBP based on CP from assessment to evaluation significantly showed on the increase of quality nursing care from all the aspects of nursing process.

Discussion and conclusion: the practice of EBP in nursing practice is new developing a model of nursing education methods where are includes on practice adoption, education and curricular realignment and model of theory development.
